If you can convince somebody that what you’re have what you have to say isn’t obvious it’s something interesting and maybe even something useful then you might actually get past that first paragraph and so you think that whatever it is you have to say okay so think about that a little bit how can you sell it how can you get you also want to offer your research question if not in question of one itself it would stay basically what it’s about you want to tell people from the beginning what what it’s going to be you also wanted to clear your thesis okay traditionally speaking in most other graduate papers the thesis is located sort of as the last sentence of your introductory paragraph there’s used for just one paragraph. And that’s back now you can be a little more expansive if you want to be if you need an introduction of two or three paragraphs or whatever it’s a little bit longer that’s fine it doesn’t necessarily have to be any last sentence but it needs to be very very obvious but this is your main point that this is you know what I’m trying to argue and one reason why is often the very last sentence is that everything that you’ve got sort of dudes up at that point therefore this is the argument right that’s the okay as I said before you need to explain why your answer is important or unique similar to those sort of why that should be interested and keep in mind I know I said this last week but I will say it again right declare your thesis thesis has to be in the introduction at some point somewhere okay like I said it’s not a mystery it’s not gonna be like so the next thing on the structure anyway Jesus is the literature review okay.

You guys may not have heard it called this before maybe they even explains to you no I don’t know this is something that’s often done from people who do more advanced academic writing but it’s still a really good way to organize even an undergraduate paper to think about it like this and that is you know what information what literature are people going to need to know in order to understand what your topic is what your argument is all about okay it may involve some definitions although you know you don’t want to become way too late in that if you wanted to find things you want to try to do so in a way that you can measure try to understand and then improve something to really be the case right but you want to ask you something what general knowledge it’s reor need to understand your topic of what are the competing hypotheses or competing arguments right last week remember we talked about hypotheses as being sort of different alternatives potential guesses to whatever you know you’re trying to explain in your thesis statement.
